Do i need to buy a new copy of windows

i had a old laptop with windows 7 on it i have the product key i used it on the laptop then i put fedora on my laptop then put windows on a new system i build with that key a amd system i recently upgrade to intel i5 3570k can i use that code ???
 
Solution
Using an OEM version (assuming that is what was used on the laptop) will not work on the desktop rig. You can try to get MS to activate though, via phone activation. Be prepared to purchase a new license.

Regarding other creative methods to activate, don't. Tom's Forums do not support any form of software piracy. Period.

you should be able to, I have managed to use a windows xp code from an old machine on the one I am typing from now, the only bet is to try it and if it doesnt work there are many other ways to get windows activated
