hi im planning to upgrade my cpu but im not to sure which cpu will be best for futuer gaming. these are the cpu im deciding:

fx-8320
fx-8350
i5 4670k

im trying to get the cheapest and best cpu so if u think that the 8320 is good enough for the next 2-4 years ill go with that one. but if not please suggest any cheap cpu u know.
(remember im keeping it cheap so maybe just under $270 AUD)

also i have a radeon hd 7970 would any of these cpu cause bottleneck in gaming?

It is hard to get a PC parts that are totally future proof. But if you are thinking ahead and since you already have a GCN AMD GPU, Mantle is a good API and will be better utilized in years to come. So basically It will make better use of the CPU and not cause as many bottlenecks as with Direct X. A good example is a 6 core CPU was downclocked from 3.6ghz to 2.0ghz and the performance change in BF4 was negligible. So I imagine in the near future the FX 6300's and FX 8000's will do fairly well. But as of now the i5 4670k is the most powerful CPU you mentioned. And the FX 8350 and FX 8320 are almost the exact same except one is cheaper. But like vmn said nothing is futureproof

We don't know if mantle would be better utilized. That is guessing.

Direct X is still a simpler and better choose for most developers.

I don't think a fx 6300 clocked at 2.0 would go through BF4 multiplayer with the same performance as a fx 6300 clocked at 3.6

I didn't say nothing is futureproof. As a AMD a6 wouldn't be where a fx 6300 and above would be(example).

Oh...I misread what you wrote..But as for Mantle I agree with you 100% as there are still some unknowns. The info about the CPU downclocked was from a tech vid I saw on Youtube and i think it was an Intel 4960x and they did some testing with the Stress test Star Swarm, which I think is an open source benchmark tool now, And this really shows what mantle is capable of doing. The only reason I Mentioned Mantle though is because it would be Thinking of terms of what your PC might be able to do in Future tense. As for myself I would like to see Direct X go forward in a similar way.

No bottle neck at all. The 7970 is a good card.

4 yrs in gaming is a very long time.

Mantle will only make a huge difference with very low apu. Also i'm not sure how long AMD will want to keep throwing major money at game developers to implement mantle alongside DX. It appears a i5/i7 would gain 7.5% max or any other high end cpu with mantle.
Of the the three the i5k is the obvious choice. I envisage the biggest change in gaming to come will be the need for increased vram. BF4 has confirmed that belief despite a very good gaming experience with 2gb vram. Your 7970 has 3gbs so i think you will be good. I'd rather have those spec's then anything better with only 2gb's vram.

Again 2-4 years is a long time anyway you look at it.

You can get more performance out from mantle, but it's harder to code the game in their API.
Mantle is currently only supported by newer AMD GPUs and IGPs, this is the big reason why I think it going to take a looong time(like many years) before mantle will even be considered the standard. Game developers wont just develop their game for mantle(unless their really hate nvidia)(And intel for those who use their IGP).

Not much more with a high end cpu. Testing has already shown an i7 improvement of only 7.5%.
Yep, well hate is strong word. It is more likely to come down to dollars, despite what will be a very good (and long)marketing campaign.
AMD have a lot of money but how much they are willing to part with for how long will remain the question IMO.
