Hi everyone,
I have a 200mm cooler master fan on the side of my case. In order to keep my system running cooler, I plugged the fan into one of the headers on the motherboard to lower the speed a bit. After a little while the fan just started spinning way too fast, making noises it never made before (whining like a vacuum cleaner) and I am unable to change the speed. I plugged the fan back into the basic 4 pin molex connector like it was before and it still made the noise and was spinning at dangerously high RPM. Is there something I can do to fix this or should I look at RMA'ing it?
I do have a low noise adapter from one of my corsair fans, and I was going to try that if people think it might help.
Thanks
Edit: I should also note that I got the fan new in July
