i7 is not wasted for gaming its just price vs performance a lot of times it is better to go for the i5. In your case the price is the same so why not go for the v8 rather than the v6.
I also wanted to warn you both machines come with middle of the road graphics cards so you will be playing newer games on medium setting not high and ultra.
One more thing I wanted to say is if you would consider buying from Germany you can get a better machine at that price point. I live in Germany and I purchase stuff from all over Europe. Shipping is fast and because of the European laws for 2 year warranty it is very easy to get service. If you are interested let me know and I will give you some links and don't worry they all speak English.

Thanks mate, I'm definitely interested. I live in the UK so I don't think it would be that difficult to ship from Germany.

Which one do you think is better of the 5 for gaming?

I think the gt765m is the strongest card, but I'm not confident on playing on 15.6" as I only played 17+

What do you guys think?

This one is first gen I7
All of the ones I am seeing have smaller displays.
I noticed they had only 4 gb of ram but it is easy to add ram.
I learned about gaming that the most important part of your system is the graphics card so I always try to get the best card I can for the money you can upgrade the ram and CPU later if you want . In my opinion unless you want to drop just a little more to get the bigger display get the notebook with the best gpu you can afford. I have a Lenovo with a mid grade graphics card and I don't even use it for gaming because I am not happy with the performance. I use my desktop for gaming in hindsight I am pissed I spent so much on a gaming notebook that I don't play games on. Had I gone with the better card I would use it a lot more for gaming but my desktop is so much bette. Anyway that is just my opinion no one told me when I purchased my Laptop so I didn't know any better.

That looks quite nice, the only downside would be the GTX 760 instead of 765. is there something a bit more expensive with the 765 on it and those specs?

I think the 760 and the 765 are really close but it is up to you either way they are all good machines

LOL you are just like me start with a modest pc start shopping and reading reviews and the price goes up HA HA . In my honest opinion for gaming get the best possible graphics card you can afford (with in reason). I am sure you have read reviews the 780 is a huge upgrade from the 760. In that price you have a lot more choices it really gives you a much broader range of laptops.
