Solution
Power the system down and disconnect all power sources (monitor, power cable, powered speakers). Open the case and make sure your HDDs are properly connected to both the data and power cables. Also check that your data cable is properly connected to your motherboard).

With the case off, reconnect the previously removed devices and try again.

Most likely your HDD has failed however I have seen SATA devices "disappear" myself. A simple remedy may be to reseat the cables as has been suggested or you might also try a different SATA port on the MB or a different SATA cable. Lastly you can relocate the HDD to a different computer to see if the other BIOS sees the drive and/or replace the suspicious HDD with a known good HDD and see if your BIOS detects it. I sincerely hope this is not your wakeup call to backing up your HDD.
