Hello everyone.I am building a gaming rig,and I have decided everything except CPU.I have in mine either Fx-6300 or i3 4130.
Why Fx-6300
6 cores
More L1,L2,L3 cache
Why i3 4130
Hyper Threaded
2 strong cores
Needs less power, thus resulting less heat
Possibility to upgrade to i5/i7.
Now what shall I chose?I am thinking of getting i3 for the possibility of upgrading. If I would buy the Fx-6300 I could upgrade to 8320/8350/9370.The minus there is that a i5/i7 is 30-40% better than 8320/8350/9370.To note:
I need the CPU to run the games only for like 8-10 months, after I will upgrade to a better CPU.
The case is cooled by:two front fans, one in the back and two on the top.(front pumping air fron outside and the other 4 pumping it out)
The cooler will be Cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev. 2 .

I'd go with the intel, especially since you're planning to upgrade. Upgrading to an 8 core FX from a 6300 will make no difference in most games if the 2 are running at the same clockspeed.

Which games are you trying to run? With which GPU?

Now,games like far cry 3,Cod series, etc. The current GPU is gt630.But I will also change it to gtx660 after 3-4 months I buy the CPU.And now,my question is will the i3 last at least 10 months.

With the games you have mentioned I would go with the Fx 6300. Both of those games operate better with more cores. If you had said old games or Skyrim, then I would have said i3.

In any case, either of those will run games around the same performance, give or take a frame here and there between them, depending on the game..and definately depending on the graphics card you put in your machine.

If you truly are thinking of upgrading in the future, why don't you wait until you can afford a top level i5? Otherwise, you spend 100 something dollars on a cpu now, and then a couple of hundred dollars again in 10 months or so time. That is 300 plus dollars in about a year on cpus, when you could instead put that money into a juicy graphics card upgrade, which would be a much better investment considering all of the modern CPUs can handle todays games quite well.

If you don't want to upgrade any time soon, I would seriously consider the Fx 6300/8320 if you can stretch it for the best bang/buck ratio along with the fact that newer games are slowly upping the core counts wanted. Otherwise save up a bit more and get a top level i5. i7 is wasted on just gaming.

Just as a budget example; I run a machine with a top of the line I5. My friend runs a 6300 based machine. When playing games, both of us using 7950's, most games perform the same. Some oddbods like Skyrim are slightly smoother on my machine, but honestly, the differences I have noticed are very small across the board. His CPU is NOT overclocked...as yet. Another thing to take into consideration regarding your budget decisions.

With intel and overclocking, you will need a K version cpu, along with a Z87 motherboard, all of which cost much more than the standard cpus and the B and H version motherboards. With AMD all it requires is one of their CPUs and a 970 chipset motherboard with some half decent power phases and mosfet cooling, along with the after market cpu cooler that both require for overclocking.

Best of luck with whatever you decide on.
