A-10 7850K and NB massively overvolted?

Hey there people,

I recently got myself a 7850K APU and am using it in a mini PC together with the ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ board.

Now even though everything is running just fine for now...my stock CPU and NB voltages scare me.

When checking in with AMD OverDrive or looking at CPU-Z the CPU Vcore sit at 1.45 and the NB (at least on OverDrive) shows a whopping 1.4.

This seems...massive to say the least. Setting lower values inside my bios does work just fine...but here is the problem:

For some reason no one on the internet thinks that it's important to mention what stock voltages those components run on.

So...could someone tell me? I hate going in blind....but after reading up on some overclock guides I can already tell that my voltages are even above what some would use for overclocks...let alone normal stock speed.

Edit: Manually set CPU-VID and NB-VID to 1.3 and 1.2 now to avoid setting my CPU on fire (lol)

You sure about that? I finally at least found "some" values for the CPU Vcore (http://images.anandtech.com/doci/7677/Kaveri%20OC.png). It's from an OC test..but whatever...gives me a guideline I suppose?

Also 1.45 Volt is already shown as red in amd overdrive...so Im 100% certain that this was too high.

Now all Im still trying to find is the stock NB Voltage...which might be different than what Im used to from FX-CPUs since the GPU is also controlled via it eh?

My core is now @ 1.29 to ensure there is enough power (according to those guys, this should be enough - so far Im stable)
That darned NB-Voltage though....

Im used to this problem already though...My Asrock 970 extreme4 had the same problem with my FX8350...namely it being permanently overvolted....might be an Asrock disease.

I just wrote with the ASrock support and they told me that the 1.45 Voltage is normal because it ensures that the system runs with the 2400 MHZ Ram so it can pass the "burn in test"

I should be setting that value lower if I use lower MHZ ram settings (namely 1.35 or lower)...but since my system has been completely stable for more than 2 days now while gaming...I might as well go ahead and assume that all is good.

After all I haven't really heard of downsides to undervolting your system...other than it not correctly booting until you put a higher volt on it again. (Unlike overvolting...which can literally destroy your system...of course....countermeasures make this a more rare occurence nowadays)

Stress testing might follow later...but thanks for your help anyway :)

I have the exact same setup and I feel my system is running a little hot. Could you post some screenshots of your bios so I can compare? To do that you just insert a fat32 USB stick on your pc and in bios you press F12 and it takes a screenshot.
Thanks.
