Since 2008 I've been running two EVGA 8800 GTS in SLi mode. The time is long overdue for an upgrade.

Current specs:
EVGA nForce 750i SLI Motherboard
Intel Core2 Quad CPU @2.40GHz
8 GB DDR2
Windows 7 Ultimate

I want to keep my budget below $200. I was looking at getting the GeForce GTX 660. I know another Best graphics cards for the money is coming out in a week, so I thought I'd ask some recommendations before committing that kind of cash. Also I'm not even sure my motherboard can handle it as I'm pretty sure my motherboard uses a pci-e 2.0

Solution

The PCIe 2.0 will definitely be able to handle a GTX 660, however, the Core 2 Quad CPU might bottleneck the GTX 660. I would upgrade my CPU before getting a more powerful graphics card...

Also, DDR2 RAM is a bit slow, you might want to look into getting DDR3 RAM. The GTX 660 is a great choice for a graphics card, however!

Then by all means you can buy the GTX 660 (if that's the one you want) nand use it now, just know that it won't perform to its potential until you upgrade your CPU.

An AMD 6 core (FX-6300 or 6350) would be sufficient, but if you wanted to upgrade to SLI in the future, you might have to overclock to avoid bottlenecking.
