Motherboard SATA doesn't fit HDD?

I bought that HDD but have nothing that connects the SATA motherboard part and the 8 pin HDD part.

What cable do I need to buy?

What MB and what PSU do you have?

EDIT: Hopefully you will only need the power and the data (sata) connectors. The two with the "L" shapes.

I have a cable from PSU to HDD and SSD, but then the connection to motherboard, I don't think I have for HDD (sdd is working using a SATA, http://img.misco.eu/resources/images/products/106/SRH/SA/SATA8LA1//SATA8LA1_1600x1600.jpg)

This is a basic sata cable for data. You can find them cheaper if you look around. This was the first in a search to come up.

There should be power cables from the PSU that will fit into the "L" shaped larger power slot on the HDD. They look something like this.

The power cable is already in (same one that's in SSD) it's the one that connects to the motherboard I'm struggling with.

It's an 8 pin connector.

Edit: I have that also but it looks like it won't fit the 8 pin slot.

That is a good cable for the sata data. Connect it to a MB sata port and the other end to the appropriate slot on the HDD.

Don't use the 8 pin slot. It is an extra power port. Use one of the "L" shaped power connectors instead.

And do not move the SSD or whichever is your boot device from the original port on the MB. This might cause problems.

Just found it, I didn't actually see that one........... lol.

All connected now but my PC isn't finding the HDD, suggestions?

You probably need to initialize the HDD. Go into disk management and create a new partition of the disk and make it a logical drive with a letter so that windows will see it.

I would make it a logical drive. That is if you are going to use it for extra storage. Primary drives are for OS boot drives mainly. You can make it a primary if you want to though. You will be safer with a logical drive, IMO.

Do a quick format and there should be an option for either a logical drive or a primary drive.

I use Acronis Disk Director to manipulate drives, to make logical drives. Once the drive is made logical with an assigned letter, disk manager recognizes it as a logical drive. There are free disk partition apps that will do the same.
