I'm having a serious problem with my games, it wasn't like this before, but suddenly I got some problems with FPS.

I was trying to play Need For Speed: Most Wanted and it was unplayable, at 40 fps I can't see the actions going smooth. And it's not only on Need For Speed, I tried Assassin's Creed II and it starts lagging at 50 FPS. Tomb Raider 2013 the same thing, some time before I played the entire game on 35 FPS and it went flawlessly, now I couldn't even play at 35 FPS because things weren't smooth.

I tried playing the old Tomb Raider: Legend at 35 FPS, any guess? It was a terrible experience.

I know games at 30 are not as smooth as 60, but sometime before it wasn't a problem.

I tried updating drivers and it didn't solve the problem, the only good thing that happent is that i was having some stuttering and huge fps drop in some games and now it's gone, but I can see some screen tearing at 60 FPS that I didn't use to have.

I had to install some direct x components to play some games from microsoft, and I did it more than once, could it be a problem of incompatibility?

My specs:

cpu: i5 3570
vcard: Gtx 550 ti
8 gb ram (3gb available because of win7 32 bits)
mobo: ga-b75m0d3h

If this started happening after updating/changing gfx drivers, it may be old driver remnants in the registry in conflict. Try this:

Uninstall the current gfx driver again, Then run Driver Sweeper from Safe Mode (F8). This version: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.html
Have it remove any AMD, ATI, and Nvidia graphic driver remnants it can find. Then reboot and install the latest driver for your card.

If the situation still exits, it may be the card itself that is failing. Does it heat up quite a bit more? Run Furmark and check on the temps as it runs the 1080p default benchmark.

@clutchc

It didn't work, games are still lagging at 35/40 FPS.

@bystander

It's not about stuttering, this problem was solved when I updated my vcard drivers. My games are lagging under 60 fps with or without v-sync, not stutterinng, and I don't know what to do

My fps problem didn't begin after updating drivers, i don't know when it started, actually. My monitor has been the same for 4 years, it's a aoc 60 hz. I realized i was havingfps problems two days ago because I was running all my games on 60 fps, but need for speed is too strong to my video card so i tried fps limit at 35 fps and it wasn't good, neither at 40. Cutscenes go smooth at 30 fps, though. I had to reinstall my windows two months ago, Im coming from a 64 bit to a 32 bits. I had no problem before.

My card is a new one, it has 8 months. I can't believe it's failing because she runs games at 60 fps and i see no problem at all, it goes flawlessly.

I'm gonna check my temps asap.

You downgraded from 64bits to 32? why?

Having only 3 gigs of ram probably isnt enough for those games...
