Windows 8.1 BIOS update...

Hi guys..
I have a Lenovo G500 and i'd like to update my BIOS. But when i search for a BIOS update on Lenovos site, it says that theres a newer BIOS update, but only for Windows 8, and i have 8.1. Will it support my system if i update it? Or is it a no go?

The BIOS is software that is written into your hardware that helps configure the hardware on your computer, it is loaded and and runs before windows is even loaded. It will create a little database that it hands over to windows describing the hardware in your system. For the most part it does not care what version of the OS you are running. Windows 8 and 8.1 really will not make a difference just pick up the update.

Thank you for your answer. I'm just extremely nervous about installing it, it is the BIOS we're talking about. Are you positive that i am able to do it? it wouldn't do any damage?

In the extremely unlikely event that the BIOS flashing software were incompatible with Win 8.1 it would simply not run. When you double click 78cn23ww.exe it should run like any normal piece of software!
Just be absolutely sure you're connected to Mains power and here's no chance of power interruption during the flashing process...
