My operating system is windows 8.1, I somehow or the other made may external drive as recovery drive. now I can not see my or recover my documents that were on my external drive.
Creating a recovery disk is the same as creating a startup disk in other versions of windows. During the process the drive/disk/CD/USB is formatted resulting in everything on it prior to the operation being destroyed. Unfortunately unless you have a backup of the data that was on the drive there is no way that I am aware of to recover the lost data.

The program looks good I'd say give it a try the worst that will happen is you will learn something new lol. Bear in mind though it may not work. All the best of luck though.

If the data has been written over there is no way to get the data. It is possible that no or little data was over written in the process of formatting the drive. Depends where the data was written to the platters.
Recovering the data yourself is risky as is using software to do it.
