Hi guys,
I am going to get a new GPU in a week so I would like to know which one is performs better?
I going to use it with a 1080p monitor. And I'm in Hungary so they are quite expensive...
So there are three options :
-Asus GTX 780 with DirectCU2 cooling - for 640 USD
-Asus R9 290 with DirectCU2 cooling - for 597 USD
-GIGABYTE GTX 780 with Windforce 3x cooling - for 557 USD

I watched videos and read reviews about asus gtx 780 and i like it so far but thats the most expensive one. And if the r9 290 performs about the same i'd go for that. And I'm afraid to buy the 290 because it's new and there aren't many info about it.
Same thing with the gigabyte one, good thing is it's the cheapest but i like the blackplate and the design of the asus one. And it shouldn't perform too differently than asus cooling.
Or is it like the gtx 770 vs r9 280x? Almost the same performance... It depends on which brand you prefer???

I don't really care about Mantle because it's works better with lower-end GPUs, but G-SYNC is a little more exciting one IMO.

So i really don't know what would be the best option there are too many pros and cons.
Please give me some advice I'd appreciate it. :)

My rig BTW:
psu- corsair rm760
cpu- intel i5 4670k
mobo- msi z87-g45
storage- samsung 840 evo 250gb
ram- corsair vengeance 8gb 1600
cpu cooler- corsair h100i
case- fractal design define r4

Go with the Asus gtx 770. Its a lot more reliable and going to last a lot longer. Plus it is a bit more powerful than the AMD. The Direct CU2 is worth the money in the long run. Unless your thinking of replacing the card in less than year.

My DC2 ASUS 7970 (280X) when OCed, performs the same as a OCed 770. Proof you ask? http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1917245/3dmark-fir... The scores are like 1-3 FPS off

Thank you for the answers. And you you think there is a big difference between the asus and the gigabyte cards as far as cooling goes? And I'm not planning to upgrade it unless it will make a big difference. But who knows? :)

With those prices, there is no reason to get the Asus 780. The Gigabyte 780 is going to come with all the same types of features: custom cooling, custom components, and if it's the OC version, a very high factory overclock. The Gigabyte at that price is the clear option.

+1

Gigabytes Windforce x3 is a great cooler that, as far as most reviews I've read on multiple different amd and nvidia cards, has very similar performance to the direct cu2 from asus. The one on my 780 ti keeps in the low 70's at max load in just about any game. Really any of the big name coolers (MSI Twin Frozr, EVGA ACX, etc) perform very similarly across the board. It's really more about what style and exclusive features you most prefer and, of course, price.

Okay thank you guys, I really appreciate your comments. I think I'll go with the gigabyte one even though I like asus's design a little more. At leaset I can buy some games. :)

you did the correct choice. asus 290 direct cu II is the best choice ever if you ask me. price - overall performance (cooling, noise, monster speed).
