I'm looking at a 24" Polaroid HDTV to use as a computer monitor. The computer's primary use is for auto-cad drawings. I'm interested in doing this as the TV has a built in DVD player. The TV has 1080p 1980/1080.
Hopelessly behind the technology curve

You definitely can if you connect it via HDMI, or if the tv supports DVI/VGA connections. What is the refresh rate of the tv? It doesn't really matter, it just might be a problem if it is less than 60Hz.

it shouldnt be an issue doing what you want however a computer monitor would be better suited for cad.

your choice though.

just for the record i have a large tv and i use it for cad :)

so you really could go either way and it really is your choice whether to go tv or monitor.
