On the hp pavilion a520n I can't found the hard drive on my bios it's still not working can you please help me fix this problem my computer won't start windows xp?

The computer is from what; 2002-2003? So the hard drive is way beyond it's expected lifetime and probably dead... that's if it's the original HD... if it's not and not so old, the motherboard would be a suspect.

See if resetting the BIOS helps:
1. Disconnect the computer from AC power
2. Open the case and remove the BIOS battery, wait from 5 to 10 minutes, before replacing it.. use a new CR-2032 battery for better results.
3. Check the IDE cable connection to the motherboard and hard drive, check the molex connector to the hard drive is not lose. Also check the power supply connection/s to the motherboard.
4. See if the Hard Drive is now detected.... if not, it's probably time for a new one... but you could test it through a USB adapter to see if it's detected by the BIOS or as a storage device in another computer... if detected and accessible at all, backup personal files as soon a possible.
