Internet connection is fine at some moments and limited the next moment

Im on windows 8 and haven't upgraded to 8.1, My internet is completely perfect for phone and laptop at some moments then it randomly just goes limited and doesn't work for phone or laptop until reconnect to my network. It does it at seemingly random times and anytime I try to download anything or play videogames on my laptop it will quit immediately plz help.

What kind of internet connection do you have (e.g. cable, DSL, fibre)?

Does it do it if you're connected via Ethernet?

I only have wireless, as I don't have any way to connect the ethernet cordunless I drill a hole throught the ceiling. and I don't know how to check what kind I have.

If it's DSL, there will be a phone line going into your modem or router. If it's cable, there's a big fat round cable with a hexagonal nut. If it's fibre, there will be a load of yellow 'caution: laser' signs everywhere, and a really thin wire.

Can you move the computer to beside the router, temporarily?

Ah. There's not much you can do about that without access to the router.

Talk to anybody else using the same connection to see if they're having the same issues.
