hi,
in my zalman z11 case, it came with two usb 3.0 cables sticking out the back which you plug in to the usb 3.0's at the back of the case to power the usb 3.0's at the front, however after watching a video on youtube i discovered that people complained about this and zalman have updated recent models, but us stuck with the old one can get an adapter like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-Pin-Motherboard-Header-to-2x-USB-3-0-Adapter-Connects-USB-3-0-Cables-/380713300855?pt=UK_Computing_USB_Cables&hash=item58a447f377 and then we can use the back ones and the front ones. however, on my asus p8h61-mx motherboard, the only usb 3.0 ports i can see are only 10 pins and all the adapters are 20 pin and when i google 10 pin usb 3.0 nothing comes up. here is a photo of my motherboard: http://www.nix66.ru/images/photo/q/a/t/motherboards_asustek_125282_2245_draft_large.jpg the ports i am talking about are the two at the far left middle. has anybody got any ideas as to what i can do to power my usb ports via my motherboard?
thanks

Asus p8h61-mx has two versions, one has 2xUBS 3.0 ports on the back panel only, other one doesn't have any USB3.0 ports.
USB3.0 version http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61MX_USB3/#specifications
USB2.0 version http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61MX/#specifications

The USB headers on the MB are the USB2.0 header that has the 9 pins, so if you have the USB3.0 version then you have to plug into the back panel, otherwise you those USB3.0 ports as the USB2.0 speed if you connect it to the MB.

If you have to the USB2.0 headers, then you can buy one this adapter: Motherboard USB 2.0 9-Pin to USB3.0 Type-A Cable Adaptor http://www.moddiy.com/products/Motherboard-USB-2.0-9%252dPin-to-USB3.0-Type%252dA-Cable-Adaptor.html

hey,
i have the 3.0 version. are you sure i have to use the back panel? the 9 pin port on the motherboard does say usb 3.0 on it, would i be able to get the Motherboard USB 2.0 9-Pin to USB3.0 Type-A and then plug the 20 pin usb port in to that?

Yes, I am sure, check the link there is a picture in the installation section, I think your case is the z11 plus because z11 doesn't have the UBS3.0 ports. http://www.thinkcomputers.org/zalman-z11-plus-mid-tower-case-review/4/

In your manual they say those USB are the USB2.0. If you use the adapter ( USB2,0 to the USB3.0) then the front USB3.0 will become USB2.0.
