Help cpu compatibility

HI currently have a amd x2 2650e and was looking to upgrade to a amd x2 5050e.

Could you tell me if it would be compatible. I took pics from my other computer running xp

The CPU and Motherboard are both compatible. Just look for the socket type and make sure that they match on both parts, that's how you check for compatibility.

The CPU I want is a am2+ and my currently is a am2. would the am2+ work on a am2 socket mobo

Sorry, but no it will only work with AM2 CPU's. Unless your motherboard says that it has an AM2/AM2+ socket it will not work with AM2+ CPU's.

It is backwards compatible, but you won't see any performance gains since the motherboard is locked at AM2 speeds.

If your current CPU is under the max speed for an AM2 processor, then yes you will see a boost in performance. I'm just saying that an AM2+ CPU would be limited to the max speed that AM2 is able to accomplish (if that makes any sense at all, sorry for my wording

).

You will get less performance with the 5050e.

windows 7 ran pretty smooth on my old dell computer with only 1GB of ram, so I would imagine that it will work just fine. Don't expect to do much gaming however (unless you just want to play the classics).

I was just going to use IT for web Skype and Office apps and maybe a really old game
