The other day i was doing some gaming playing Battle Field 4 when my power supply sparked. I very quickly was able to turn off the machine before a fire could arise. The PSU wasn't of highest quality it was an EAGLE psu 600 watts it wasn't 80 plus certified. So i went out today and purchased a corsair psu which was enough watts and 80 plus bronze. I plug up all the parts and it turns out if i have my cpu power connecter connected my computer wont turn on. If i dont have it in all parts go on fans spin hard dives move but i cant use it since there is no cpu. Is my cpu broken or is it my motherboard?

Solution
Another reason could be that your inserting a 6pin connector into the 8 or 4 pin slot, even though this sounds obvious it is a common mistake that can lead to serious problems as this should only be used for PCIE
