I'm building this for a friend. He wants to do video editing with free software. He makes low budget movies, and takes them to film festivals/puts them online. He has a $500 budget. We're in Japan, so prices and parts available may be a little different. Please give me some feedback on this build, before I tell him to buy this stuff.

AMD A8 6600K
GA-F2A55M-HD2
I-O PC3-12800(DDR3-1600) 8gbx1
WD blue 3.5in 7200rpm 1TB
15in monitor that gets a little higher than 720p
Other not so important components

Could this machine manage what he needs it for?

Get two sticks of RAM, and go for higher rates if you can.

I'd look at a 1080p screen; if he's doing movies the extra real estate is useful.

Is 2x4gb better than 1x8gb?

two rams will be better , because the motherboard will use the dualchannel

So I could do1080p and get a small hdd. He has a few externals. Would that make more sense?

Or I could get get 2x2gb ram with 1tb hard drive and a bigger screen. Where should I make the sacrafice? The hdd, the ram, or the screen?

That data is stored in your Amazon account; I can't get to it.

HDD, probably. If he's got a few external HDDs, you might be able to pull the drive out of it and use it.

I didn't log on to my account to create that list. It should work in google chrome.

No, it's that the data of what you stored is either in your account, or in cookies in your browser. That's not a unique link.
