Well i recently decided to switch to pc master race and got myself a mid level card and have a gtx 660 Ti but, I have a shitty cpu that came with my hp pc. I am planning to upgrade on may and i don't know whats a better cpu to pick. It is either the i5 4670k or the amd fx 8350 i am not sure how the i5 will work with my card i wanna know if it will bottleneck it. Also i would love someone to post a good deal on a cpu with mobo and psu and also cpu cooler my budget will be 400-500 u.s dollars also i have a microcenter and i hear they have the best deals around ;p

Edit: This is my current shitty cpu and stuff

cpu:

Mobo:http://puu.sh/74kGn.png

I Plan on upgrading those both to use with my gtx 660 Ti

Also don't wanna blow around 100 on 8gb of ram so i wanna know some cheap x2 6gb i can buy to use with my current ram

Is this 400-500 dollars just on cpu/mobo or on All of the PC except graphics card?

The 4670k is faster than the fx-8350 but at a price premium, FX-8350 does well in performance per $

I assumed it was just for CPU/mobo/cooler.

For $500 I'd go for this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($74.99 @ Mwave)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($197.27 @ TigerDirect)
Total: $492.25
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Very nice OCing setup in my opinion.

well i don't really plan on OCing since i really don't know what that does and i plan on having a little extra to bump my current 6gb of ram to a 12gb since i really don't wanna blow cash that i don't have on 8gb of ram

Edit: I also only have 540 watts so not sure if i have to really upgrade that but if i do i'm looking for a 600-650 watts for further upgrades

Your current RAM is DDR3 1333MHZ, You could try to find some more if that type of RAM but I don't recommend using different model numbers/brands toghether.

Here's a suggestion by the way. 8GB RAM @1600mhz, I5 4670K, Maximus VI Hero and a Coolermaster CM 212 EVO all for $507

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($197.27 @ TigerDirect)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.99 @ Microcenter)
Total: $507.23
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

There's cheaper alternatives if you'd like a cheaper more basic motherboard but those can't overclock(if you wanted to in the future you'd need to buy a new motherboard) If you NEVER want to overclock then I can make a much cheaper setup with a more basic board.

Can you post full spec or use the topic on how to get advice on a PC please.

I'd like to know

Full budget for upgrades:
Power supply make/model, 540w means nothing since some of these "540w" PSU's are junk:
Amount of hard disk drives/solid state disks:
Purpose of the finished PC:
Current RAM MODEL number/maker if possible:

If you don't wish to oc at all, you could consider a locked i5 (such as a 4440, 4570) but that's only if you have no real intention of overclocking. Ash is right you should post up your psu, some can be very bad&even take out hardware if they go 'poop'

A couple of psu's (budget?)

SeaSonic
M12II 520 Bronze

SeaSonic
M12II 620 Bronze

SeaSonic
S12G-550 (gold)

XFX 550w

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb...

Also 'if' you wanted no overclock at all, you could get a cheaper mobo (for a 4570 etc) such as a h87, b85 but you can't sli either, z87 is oc&sli.

I would have sad about amd, but usually people oc the chips

I run a stock 8320 and it works great in gaming for me, in combination with a HD 7870.

Only problem I had with it was, I had to switch out the stock cooler for a TX3 EVO.

If the OP wants a budget system I can easily recommend the FX-8320.

Those PSU's are all great units for single high GPU setups as well.

Yeah, i will be grabbin a 8320 or 6300 for my build soon&attempting to oc. I mainly suggested as he had an i5 in mind but with no wish to oc. If money is tight amd is a great way to go.

Need to go to the list on pcpartpicker and individually buy each part. You CAN buy them all from one retailer but I've got it set to best price per item.

There you, that is a good quality PSU.

I'd buy that part first, it is on offer from it's usual price of $60!

To what? that PSU can run almost any single card.

It doesn't matter about the wattage, it matters about the amount of AMPs it can supply. Some 1000W PSU's are junk.

so that psu can run a gtx 680 or 780 and the whole pc?
