I know this is a common question but I have no idea what to get. This is my first build and I have a max of $300 to spend on a monitor. I will be gaming as well as watching movies (I will not necessarily be right in front of the monitor when watching movies). Is it worth giving up viewing angles and colour quality for higher frame rates, I have an I5 4670k and a r9 290 so my system will be capable of doing this. Thanks :)

Depends. IPS is better than TN but you have to take into account how much you are going to look at the monitor at angles and what angles (TN is inferior but not horrible at viewing angles) and how much color correction counts. For a mainly gaming rig i would get a tn with higher refresh rate.
