I have to compile tons of lines of codes, so I wish it has better RAM and the keyboard should be good because most of the time I would be typing.

Nice but it starts $400 over the top budget.

Lenovo T series are great for a very solid build, although they tend to be heavier than some models.

If you want something sturdy, it's probably my top pick. Although it looks like they are going downhill with quality like everyone else, they keyboard is totally changed.

Yeah but I am not sure about that mouse thing they have in the middle of the keyboard, will it allow me to write as comfortably as the lappies which don't offer such a feature.

Take a look at Xoticpc.com ( sorry, for the life of me I can't remember how to insert a link). Anyway, they offer laptops from several manufacturers AND you can customize, too. The prices are good and, from what I've read, support is good, too. I can't think of a more convenient site to start out with.
