Dell xps 8500 upgrade to a MSI R9 270 Gaming

I have a Dell xps 8500 still using the default psu and is running a amd HD 7770 ive been looking at options for a gpu upgrade and the MSI R9 270 gaming is looking like the one but im not 100% sure if it will be compatible, any help would be much appreciated

the 270 needs 32 min total amps on the 12 rail, your psu has around 42 so you should be safe. emphasis on should.

it's also possible you install it and it's unstable in which case the solution is to upgrade the psu too... share your results when done, might help others

i was thinking about doing a psu swap and going with a R9 280 but i dont think the case will have sufficient cooling for the card but i could also up the psu and still go with the 270
