Hello,
After a defective card using the ASUS HD 7770, I returned the card and upgraded to the Sapphire HD 7850. I did a clean install of windows just because it was easier, plus I did one after getting the 7770 anyway so I never lost anything. Once done, I updated windows fully, then using both the CD, and the online drivers from amd/sapphiretech themself, I ran into the same problem. The graphics card is detected once installed, however, once I reboot, it'll go past the windows logo, to a black screen where it should say "welcome", it'll then move onto the desktop but no task bar or any icon will load up. I've been told to restart explorer.exe via task manager, but ctrl+alt+delete gives me a back screen which I can esc out of, ctrl+shift+esc flashes the screen but nothing appears. At times I can get my mouse, but that's rare.
I really hope this has nothing to do with a defective card, if anyone has any solutions, I'd love to hear them. I can currently either: system restore before the driver installation or use safe mode(With networking and cmd prompt(Using cmd I have also done a sfc /scannow but nothing was detected).) If you need anymore details, feel free to ask, thanks in advance!
