Hey Guys I'm planning on building a gaming rig with a side of graphics/media/programming in mind. Here is the link: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2Xm67 please give me your sage advice
Thats a good approach, many initially put all together outside of the case to ensure all is working, then PSU, attach CPU cooler to mobo, install mobo, hook up cables and then drives last as you mention
Yep! MB+CPU+Cooler outside of the case like Tradesman1 says will make it a bit easier. Another tip.. don't fully tighten drives down in the case until all are installed. It can cause a very tight fit for the next drive you are trying to slide in the cage.
Looks good, if you can swing just a bit more would go with the 3770K, may not want to OC right now, but a few months down the road might and would be like getting a new faster rig
CPU - Look toward the 4770k, not the prior generation 3770k.
HD - Change that to the Seagate 2tb. Double the space for $20 more.
PSU - This is your only "must change" (IMHO). Stick with Antec, Corsair, XFX or Seasonic.
OPTICAL - For a budget of $1700 might as well add a BD-RW...
random question, what's the best/easiest order of putting parts in? PSU then Moba then Drives then wiring?
Also I have a carpetted floor, will that be problematic?
