I was wondering if I delete the operating system from my current computer hard drive and then put it in my new computer will I still be able to play like all my games and programs off the old hard drive in the new computer if in the new computer im using the same operating system?

Solution
No, you will need to re-install all your games and applications on your new PC, because your new Windows knows nothing about the installations on the old drive. You therefore have to re-install them so that new program folders can be created and relevant entries can be written to the Registry.

Well I plan on using the same operating system. So could I atleast install my games and programs from the old hard drive to the new one? It all comes down to slow internet and weeks of redownloading games and running my pc constant for the time.

If you use Sysprep, like I recommended above, you won't have to reinstall anything. All programs will be carried over.

If you do a clean install you'll have to reinstall everything, but that may not be so bad if you saved your game and program downloads.

You can't copy or transfer games and apps from your old hard drive to the new one. They have to be installed from scratch on your new PC.

Of course, if you have saved the setup files for those games and apps on your old hard drive, you can certainly run those setup files again for your new computer. But you just can't copy previous installations across for the reasons I've already given. Makes no difference if it's the same Windows version or not, it won't work.
