I need to store my data on a remote server so that it's safe and accessible from everywhere.
- high reliability: I want to null/minimize the probability of losing my data
- a few hundreds GBs
- not to be forced to install software on my devices to access the data (eg: dropbox client software): I want to access my data through standard protocols (rsync, ftp, ssh, http, whatever...) supported by standard unix tools.
- shell access to the server (SSH) would be highly appreciated (so that I could grep through my files before downloading)
- must not be expensive: I want to pay less than 20$ per month
What is the name of the service I need?
They told me to look for "Seed box", "Cloud storage", "Shared hosting", "VPS" and so on. I think that none of these provides all the things I need; is there any technology offering exactly what I nee?
What service providers would you suggest?
