I have some Gskill value ram (2x4gb) from about 3 years ago. I noticed the start of the issue with freeze ups in my PC thinking it was new GPU related. Debunked that pretty quick when it happened again after putting in my old GPU, which worked soundly. So I poked around and noticed, after a rebuild, I had configured my RAM cards differently and thought, "Well for continuities sake I'll put them back.". Now is when I checked and noticed that Windows detected 6GB with 3.98 useable of the 8 total. Testing ensued, with re-seating in different configurations. I have it now reading 8GB but the freeze in BF4 still happened. Testing each of them alone in each slot my PC power on but splash screen would never show. But using them together it would boot then show 6GB and 3.98 useable. But now it shows 8GB. This is what really clued me in as to something was wrong with them? Or could it be MoBo DIMM slots?
