Using two different names, I am able to remote desktop into the same computer. Why is this? It should only allow the computer's actual name to be used.

Completely different names. Regardless of which name I use, it remote desktops me into the same PC; one name is correct, the other isn't.

Network name resolution has cached the name to IP mapping for both systems, I'm willing to bet that both have had the same IP at on point. It's resolving both names to the same IP, happens at times. If this is an office computer have the network people fix things.
