First off I have asked this question once before but I forgot the password to the account, anyways the problem still exists.

PROBLEM:
My GPU is not giving my monitor a signal, I just keep getting a "no signal" logo on my monitor, my GPU is an Asus 7850 and has always worked, the fans are spinning and it has a little green light on it to show that it is powered.

This problem started happening as soon as I upgraded my CPU to a i7 3770k from an i3 3220, ever since then the GPU will not give a signal, I have tried putting my old i3 3220 in the system and my GPU gives a signal and works perfectly.

Luckily I have been able to connect my monitor via the intergrated graphics so I could perform the following troubleshooting listed below.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Updated my BIOS to the latest BETA version, still didnt work so I rolled it back to the latest STABLE version, still didnt work.

Tried reinstalling Windows 8.1

Completely wiped my HDD using DBAN

Removed and replaced the CMOS battery

Disabled integrated graphics in the BIOS menu

BREAKTHROUGH....Well kinda.

I tried using the GPU in the 2nd PCIE slot (x4 lane) and it gives a signal.

I know my x16 slot isnt faulty as the GPU gives signal when using the i3 CPU

I should have included this in my original post. I have tried 2 different CPU's. An intel i5 3570k and an i7 3770k

No video with either the I5 or the I7 but with the I3. First time I see that so really no solution from me apart from replacing the motherboard.

Yup, it's so confusing, I've got a foundation degree in computing and this has left me stumped.

There is basically no difference between the CPU's that should let the card display with the I3 and not the others! It is about the weirdest problem I have seen! Hope it is not a Gigabyte board, since I have run into weird problems with them before but this would tromp them all.

The mobo is by Gigabyte, it is a Gigabyte z77 DS3H.

Thanks for the help :)

How on earth is this possible, just done more testing, installed the i3 3220 and my gpu works fine, now just installed my i7 again and all of a sudden its like my GPU doesn't exist, still no signal

I may be onto something here, hopefully I am.

My pc is connected to my monitor via the onboard graphics, on the System Information section it says my bios mode is "UEFI".

If my GPU does not support UEFI would this cause this issue?

Same would apply to both CPU's but I have seen issues with Gigabyte boards and GPU's fixed by swapping to legacy mode in BIOS.

Changed everything to legacy mode in the BIOS, the GPU still gives no signal, I have no idea how this issue will be resolved, I appreciate all of the help.

I am stumped because all the CPU's are the same generation and it should simply work!

Thats what i thought, I am going to try and get a hold of another i3 3220 and see what result that gives me

That would be normal under idle.

Yup, exactly, although after the render test it is only running at PCIE 2.0

That is actually strange since you have a Ivy bridge although there would be no performance difference.

Yea, I don't see how a CPU could affect this, I know all my components work, it's probably something to do with my BIOS, does removing the CMOS reset everything on the BIOS?

Yes removing the battery for few seconds will or using the jumper on the board.

Thought so, I have removed the battery and have also used the CMOS jumper pins, still nothing ;(

I think the next step is to contact Gigabyte support.

Sent Gigabyte an email, hopefully they can look into it for me, I'll keep you updated

Small update, I have spoken to my local computer shop along with intel and they have heard responses of certain compatibility issues when using an unlocked CPU in a gigabyte board with a x16 lane occupied by a GPU

Like I said before some strange issues with Gigabyte, had one of their boards in AM2+ and issues I had never seen before hence never again.

Just incase anyone is interested, I have sent the mobo back to Gigabyte and they just sent me a replacement, they said that the mobo was faulty but couldn't exactly narrow it down to what had happened, anyways I got a new motherboard :D .
