Hi all and thank you for your willingness to help.

The said system runs on a gigabyte motherboard, GA-EP45C-UD3R (rev. 1.0), that *is* ddr3 capable(green slot in the added pic link).

I aim to enlarge my RAM pool from a 2x2GB OCZ Reaper to some other configuration that maximize my RAM pool to the limit of my main board, which is 16GB of ddr2.

My problem is very specific.

1. I don't know the type of RAM chips that would be compatible with my system(ddr2 and ddr3).
2. Can the GA-EP45C-UD3R (rev. 1.0) run ddr2 and ddr3 in the same time? I was hoping that maybe by lowering the speed of the ddr3 to level it with the ddr2 and then i'll have my system running with 24gb RAM[16gb(ddr2)+8gb(ddr3)].

Any wizards around to help? :)
