My lenovo think pad has a broken screen and I've been using an external monitor. I re-loaded windows 7 and it got to a certain point and then the monitor went blank and I can't do anything further. Please help

because now it dosnt have the drivers to use a external monitor so you need to get the screen fixed or you cannot do anything

Turn on the laptop and close the screen right away. It should detect the external monitor as the main one and give you a display. If not, see if there is a docking station for your model and use that.
