I know it's a month old but I just saw and thought I should respond.
1) Rapid Mode uses "up to 1GB". It seems to scale automatically, and from what I can tell it only uses 50MB if you have 2GB of System RAM (2048MB). I have 8GB installed presently and I think there's a glitch because it says "138161" which is more memory than I have installed.
I'm also showing 7.9GB like I do without Rapid Cache in the Task Manager, and Samsung Magician is using 19.9MB so I'm not sure where Rapid Cache is. Perhaps it's part of Samsung Magician and that will get larger as time goes on.
2) It's not necessarily "worth it"; it benefits benchmark tests, but I've looked at several in-depth reviews and could NOT find a good review that found it benefitted overall.
There are PLENTY of superficial tests that say it benefits.
3) There are scenarios were the performance is LOWER by using Rapid Mode. I don't have the link handy though.
4) Data can be LOST if power is interrupted. I tried to find out how LONG it took to update the SSD from the cache on the System RAM and could find no information (a second, 30 seconds, 20 milliseconds?)
5) Rapid Mode will add to the startup time from a cold boot. It would vary depending on how large the cache file is, but it would have to copy from the SSD into Sytem RAM so if it's probably only a few seconds at most. Still, a drawback.
6) Rapid Mode will be improved over time. So if it's NOT now (again, unclear) it MAY be in the near future.
Summary:
My advice is to NOT use it unless you can find a new, in depth review that says it is worthwhile.
