dell xps 8500

i have a dell xps 8500 with a radeon hd 7570 in it and id like to upgrade the video card but im not sure which cards will work and such someone mind helping me out

What is the current power supply wattage? (probably written somewhere behind)
What is the budget?
What games do you prefer and what resolution is your monitor?

750TI or 660 will run OK and are good cards. GTX 760 is at the outer limit of the financial budget and PSU capabilities. (But probably will also work)
Some cards are pretty long, better look inside and measure how long Video card can the case accept.

Does the PSU have PEG connectors?
If it has 2, r9-270x
If it has 1, r9-270
If it doesn't have one, 750ti

You also have 8pin peg but they are only used on high-end cards(which we aren't looking at)

About the mobo,
I had a xps8300 before which didn't accept a gtx780(with upgraded PSU of course), i then build a new system in which the 780 works fine. Dell may have fixed it in the 8500 models though

750TI is the safest bet, these pre-assembeld dells do not shine with good PSUs, although 4500 is marketed as "gaming PC".

Seems like PSU is not enough to power 7870, and R9-270, 270x are basically rebadged 7870s with minor update, I would not risk with them (without changing the psu).

460w is enough (if it's a good PSU), most of the problems on DELL forum are because of the BIOS restricting Videocards. So dell apparantlly didn't fix it as my old xps8300 did the same.

Can you please post a picture of the "table" on the PSU, so we can see how strong the 12v line is?

12V shall not exceed 385w, it's made by Acbel which usually make decent PSU's.
I would got with a r9-270 max, sine the X is really pushing close to 385 together with the rest

The best Nvidia card i reccomend is a 660ti, again the gtx760 is pushing the PSU

However your best option is(after reading that thread on the DELL site)a hd7870 since DELL validated the BIOS with it so you have a much smaller chance ion these BIOS issues.

And the r9-270 is the same card with another label
