Hello, I have a rig with a Radeon Hd 7970. The system was dropped and motherboard replaced, and it has been working with a DVI input since the HDMI was compromised. I think it is dying now and would like to get a replacement card.

I have a decent rig, i7, asus m5a99x and no liquid cooling.

What kind of graphics card nowadays will be comparable to my 7970, or capable of playing Counter-Strike GO and equivalent games?

I'm not sure if the right option would be liquid cooling + a card or a decent card, I am pretty uneducated about hardware.

Thank you!

Right now, it is hard to get an AMD GPU for a good price, at least on the internet and at my local hardware dealers. If you could, get a GTX 770, it has a far better value than the 7970/R9 280. The closest GPU would be a R9 280X right now, but its like $350-$400, which is a huge price raise.

I listed the wrong motherboard, I have the AMD equivalant. I apologize :O
What AMD graphics card would play the source games running on high/decent settings without problems?
I am looking into the two you listed coozie7, Thank you!!!!!

If you ONLY want to run Source engine games a HD7750 will, as I said, play them without even having to take its jumper off-my backup 512Mb 8800GT can play ALL the HL games/episodes at max settings on a 1080 display.
Obviously, a HD7750 isn't going to cut it at 1080 for more demanding titles without slashing the eye candy but we really need you to provide your budget, location and full requirements before we can give any final advice.
