I am looking to build a gaming PC (predominantly for playing games, but also for word processing and general web browsing) with a budget of around £400/£500. I posted on Reddit and someone came up with this build: http://imgur.com/7aIW9zW.

I was just wondering what people's opinions on this build are. Are there any improvements I could make? Are there any parts I could change to save money and still maintain good functionality?

Any advice is appreciated!

Looks pretty good to me. However, I would go for a motherboard that supports PCIe 3.0 just in case you decide to upgrade your GPU in the future.

Which CPUs will require a motherboard with that capability? I can't see myself upgrading the setup for the foreseeable future, however if it may cause issues further down the line which could be avoided with a slightly better motherboard, it may be worth it... Do you have any suggestions for potential motherboards with the PCIe 3.0 capability you mentioned?

Thanks for your help!

It doesn't really have anything to do with the CPU. You won't have to buy an i7 to use PCIe 3.0 if that's what you mean. Getting a motherboard with PCIe 3.0 is actually not that much more expensive since it typically only takes up 1 - 2 slots.

here's a good mobo, although I don't know where to find one that ships in the UK. You can just search for it on whatever site you plan on buying from though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130699
