Which graphics card is better? They are both the same price but the wind force has one more fan. I have heard that the gigabyte version has had some stability issues when over clocking.

Windforce version is a bit louder but cools pretty great, Asus one is quiet but I don't know about it's cooling though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

the asus uses a crappy digi+ asp1212 voltage controller and is locked, stay far away. the gigabyte uses an ncp4208 controller which can be volt modded and is much better for overclocking. the evga classified is the best.

Not everybody is into extreme overclocking.

if your not into overclocking then it doesn't matter which card you get... either find the one that has the quietest rated cooler amongst reviews or buy an evga so you have the best warranty support.

The Asus is the best way to go in my opinion, I have the reference card and I'm satisfied.
I lucked out in the Silicon lottery and my card has a ASIC score of 73.2 and is a decent overclocker.

The direct cu ii has a conservative factory overclock because Asus wants to ensure that people get the performance they pay for.
The card is cool quiet and stable however it's not going to break any world records.

The Asus 780 ti ROG card might come out to compete with the classified series cards.

I agree that the Classified series including the kingpin edition would be the best for extreme overclocking.

The windforce cards have lots of problems.

your asus reference card uses the reference ncp4206 voltage controller so your good. overclock it to 1.212v and get as much out of it as you can. the dcii is locked up from asus so users wont fry their cards.

I'm not a hardcore overclocker like you, I overclock my card 10-15% on stock volts if I need some more FPS,

With this overclcock my card is stable when playing games, I'm not into synthetic bench marking.

With a 15% overclock i start to max out 106% power limit, I would need to get a custom bios and increase the voltage to get a massive overclock however that would increase my heat and noise output and I would have to keep my fan at 80% + to keep my card cool.

I had a gtx 780 reference card before this and with a 10-15% overclock it became unstable.
Possibly because it had a lower ASIC and lacked the new Nvidia load balancing feature and the revision b core.

What bios do you recommend for the reference card?

Old tread, But you can increase voltage with the 780Ti from Asus! ;)

Yes, however it's not necessary unless you are planning to do extreme stuff.

The 780 ti has load balancing for improved overclocking...
