Hi,

I have a question about a crash that I keep having.

It first happened about 1-2 months ago, while playing AC4 Black Flag. The game would run fine for about 5 minutes and then the game would crash, with an endless sound loop (kind of like a buzzing or vibrating noise, if that makes any sense) and my screen would go entirely red. I couldn't alt-tab or minimize or ctrl-alt-delete; I had to restart my PC completely.

It stopped happening, so just assumed it was a random crash and forgot about it.

Now I just got the exact same crash playing DX Human Revolution.

I run both games on max settings. My specs are:

ASUS R9 280x DC2T
FX-8350 w/ Thermalright TrueSpirit 120mm cooler
ASUS M5A99X Evo R2.0
FSP Aurum CM Series AU-650M 650W 80Plus Gold
Windows 8.1
Kingston HyperX Beast 8GB (2x4)
Xonar DG PCI sound card

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Hopefully I've included all the relevant info, but let me know if more is required. Thanks!

You Have Encountered With The Red Screen Of Death (RSOD)

When Red Screen of Death is displayed, the computer does not allow any modifications and it stops accepting any commands from keyboard or mouse. The only option in such cases is that users have is to cold boot the computer.

Red Screen of Death occurs due to the issues with the graphics card that a computer system may have. Many times the graphics card driver and/or its corresponding application automatically installs softOSD.exe and sds64a.sys files that are the main cause of the issue.
