I recently upgraded to a an FX 9590. I have been gathering info on the same subject. I asked for real experience on the issue but Have not gotten to much yet. Liquid cooling is recommended by AMD. But it turns out that oniy some of the 240mm or bigger liquid coolers are better than the best high end coolers. and not by much. And in my case that meant
a new Case. So I took a chance and used my intuition and Gave my air cooler a shot. It is a "Swiftech Polaris 120". It
Has 5, 8mm Direct Touch Copper Heat Pipes. It has a wind tunnel Design. The Fan is the key to this cooler which runs
max @ abouy 84 cfm. So I added a Scythe Glide Stream 120 Pwm.Then I hooked it to a Fan controller. I run it at full bore.
This is just a Gamming machine. I have tesed it for a short while. I am idling at 28 degrees centigrade. Full bore gamming is @ 59 degrees Centigrade. These temps will drop a little since this is my first run with new thermal paste. I am using Ceremique. But get some good thermal paste. Arctic silver 5 or ceramique2. There are others. the Swiftec Polaris is Available from Swiftec for $39.99 Plus Tax & shipping. Total is between $ 55.00 - $ 60.00. You can also try Jab-Tech. http://www.jab-tech.com/amd-am2-heatsinks/swiftech-polaris-120-heatsink/
jab tech's will set you back less than forty $.
