In another thread related to which is the better headset, I know there are hundreds here, I'd like to ask your guys' input on these 2 sets.

The Steelseries Siberia v2 USB version (as I don't have a dedicated sound card) and the Plantronics GameCom 780.

As much as I've seen from all over the net, the Siberia headset seems to be an awesome bang for buck choice especially in this price range, and I'm pretty confident they will be a good choice. But the Plantronics set has come into discussion a lot as well and if they are any better I'd be willing to look at them instead.

I can't justify paying any more than roughly the price of these 2 headsets as I don't need a top of the line set, just something for some casual gaming. An added bonus of some sort of surround for watching movies and shows in 5.1 would be nice. Personally in gaming I do enjoy the advantages to having surround headphones. I don't want anything really cheap either. Something mid range like these sets would be nice.

If anyone has any advice that would be great, or if there are any other ideas in this price range that rival these 2 sets I'd love to hear it. I've heard rumblings of the Logitech G35s and the Beyerdynamic MMX 2 but keep going back to the Siberias.

Also, if there's any recommendations out there to steer away from the headset and into headphone territory at this price range I'd love to hear why, because a mic wouldn't be too expensive on top of the earphones. However that might be more difficult considering I'm trying to get a USB set with it's own USB sound card rather than using onboard.

Thanks.

If you have shortlisted down to these 2 headsets, I am assuming that you don't want to go for razer Kraken, logitech g930 or CM sirius.
Coming on to your choices, I would like to divert you towards SS Siberia V2. It has amazing clarity for games. Music sounds amazing, but bass is decent. Overall, it has a nice sturdy build.
+ It comes in so many varieties. Go for Frost and you will be golden!
