Hi all,

The motherboard on my PC just died. The specs of the PC are:

Asus M2BP-VM motherboard
2.8 GHz Dual Core AMD5600
8gb DDR2 Ram (4 x 2gb)
250GB SATA II drive
GeForce GT220 1GB graphics card
Inwin 460 Watts Quiet Power

I see 3 options…

1) Replace motherboard with same model. Only place I am aware that offers these currently is Ebay. Cheapest price ~$65-75, and are used.

2) Replace motherboard with a NEW compatible motherboard.

Pros are it's new, and a little cheaper. Cons are it only has 2 memory slots, so I would only have 4gb of ram instead of 8gb.

3) Use the parts that I can from current PC, and upgrade the rest. Perhaps something along the lines of "the best pc you can build for 300".

Unsure if I can use the old graphics card and power supply listed above….

My goal for the PC is to use it as a slave computer for work purposes (specifically loading samples for audio production). Light gaming would be a bonus haha, but not necessary.

Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too computer-tech savvy, so maybe I'm missing an angle or something…

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. However I think the motherboard you suggested is not compatible with my other "older" parts. I believe the motherboard has to be AM2 and DDR2 compatible....
