I have a 4770k on a gigabyte sniper z87 motherboard. I was getting a ton of bsods, and it turned out 1 of my 4gb 1600mhz patriot sticks of ram was DOA. Now i am only running 1 4gb stick in a single port. This is a brand new build and im still a novice to overclocking etc and i have yet to actually overlclock significantly. I cannot seem to get past 4.1 ghz overclocked at 1.2v on the cpu with all multipliers on the cpu threads set to a x41 multiplier. I was wondering if another 4gb stick of ram would help this? I'm fine with my pc only running at 4.1 ghz if that is the full extent of my chip, but i was to make sure that is. I understand that some chips are better than others, but mine seems incredibly low. I am also using a corsair h100i watercooler.
