Hello, I am very new to this board. To start off, let me say that I've been using Apple for the past 5 to 7 years. Just last week my Mac desktop broke down, and to be perfectly honest I have no interest in purchasing another one, so I've decided to venture back into the world of PC. A gaming PC is specifically what I'm looking into.

I recently went on eBay to look around and see what I could find, and came across a seller called EcustomPC LLC. They have base models, and also give you the option to build your own set up. I, unfortunately, have no knowledge of building a computer, so the internal workings are completely over my head.

I was referred this board for advise. Here are the specs I have so far. Any advise on brands, if I'm going over board on anything, or if there is something you would like to point out, that would be amazing!

Tower case - Apervia X Dreamer4
Mother Board - ASRock N68C-GS FX AM3 w/ GeForce 7025
CPU - AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz Six Core
Heatsink - Zaiman 120mm 2 ball Low-noise cooler
Memory - 16gb
Optical Drive - Lite-On 4x Blu Ray

Other questions I have.
Does a more expensive power supply really matter? Currently I am selecting a Raidmax RX-450k 450W ATX.

Will I be alright gaming on windows 8? I've heard a lot of people say that they prefer 7 when it comes to gaming.

Thanks!
