I have a problem with my TP-LINK WN821N which had a problem with the connection stability. i went into a game of League of Legends and started having connection problems high ping frequent drop outs. it had never occurred the first time I played a game with it but the third time it had these issues. I ran a pingtest and was unable to test the packets and there was a ping in the 200+. My router is a Netgear EMTA CG3000-1STAUS

ps. i am unable to access my wireless router to change its settings

I have a TL-WN823N
I have probably the same problem as you do and here's my story:

I have a white brand chinese made usb adapter with a 5dBi antenna. I thought it was good, but after a while it started disconnecting and I was having lag spikes.

I then got a 5m USB lead to see if I could get a better signal. Everything was the same.
I then acquired a NETGEAR N300 genie which was ok on the 5m USB lead but sometimes disconnected completely. I thought it was fault and went to replace it for the TL-WN823N.

I still have the same problems with lag spikes and disconnection on League of Legends too.

My most recent theory is that somehow, when the device heats up, or after a while of being in use thats when I experience the majority of the problems. I do not think it is brand-related. Maybe all the cheap range USB's are like this?

I run windows 8.1 if it matters.
