Hi,

I just recently (less than 2 hours) completed my first PC build. After having everything assembled in the case and I booted it up, everything worked fine so I powered it down while I finished burning a copy of Windows from my university.

When I went to turn it back on things got weird. The light immediately below the power button flashed, and the case fans as well as CPU fan turned on. The lights on the GPU turned on as well as the LEDs near the Audio Chip on my motherboard. However, nothing displays on my monitor and no post beep can be heard. The LEDs on the case also do not light up. The weirdest thing is that after turning on, the power button will not turn the PC off, the fans will run continuously.

I've searched around and found people with similar issues but no conclusive solution. I have tried the sticky regarding things to try if POST does not occur, to no avail.

Relevant Specs:

MSI Z87 G43 MOBO
Intel i5 4670k CPU
Asus 770 GTX 2GB GPU
650W Corsair PSU
Corsair 500R case
8GB DDR3-1600 RAM

Please help! Thank you.

Hi again,

I think I've found the issue... but I wanted to post to confirm with people that know more than me.

On my 24 pin motherboard connector... the part the plugs into the MOBO looks like this Where the X's indicate a pin and the O is a place that I can literally see all the way through.

XXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXOXXXXXXX

I'm assuming this isn't transmitting some vital piece of information. I can post a picture if that is allowed.

Is this what's causing my problem, is the only way to fix it to buy a new cable? Where could I buy one of those?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I noticed that while disassembling to Breadbox. I just finished, and it was basically the same thing happening. With the motherboard on top of the box it came in, I turned it on by connecting the two power pins and the GPU fans started spinning, the CPU Cooler started spinning, but nothing appeared on screen, and the only way I could turn it off was by turning off the PSU. Is my motherboard shorted?

Sorry, when I said connecting I meant I touched them together with a screwdriver and like I said all of my fans will power on, the lights on the MOBO that say HD Audio light up, the GPU's lights by its power intake lights up, but nothing appears on screen.
