I just thought I'd add that I have the ASUS nVidia GeForce GTX 680 4GB card--two of them in SLI, actually--and I only have the first-gen Intel Core i7 980X eXtreme Edition CPU. I have 12GB of triple-channel RAM and the system works beautifully. I can't imagine a newer i-series processor would have any problems.

Also, the monitoring software that comes with the ASUS card is GREAT for customizing setup if you need to.
