I just spend the evening putting together my new build. When I tried to turn it on for the first time I had everything hooked up as normal with USB mouse and keyboard, HDMI in the 770. This is what happens..........

What didn't work:
Nothing shows up on screen, DVD drive making repetitive and loud noises, no beeps, the debug LED on the mobo is not illuminated, and the system fans are not spinning. Holding the power button for 5 seconds on the motherboard or front panel did not shut the system off.

What did work:
The CPU heat sink fan was spinning, GTX 770 fans were spinning, the indicator LED for BIOS A being selected was on, and the LED for the integrated audio was on. The power and reset buttons built into the motherboard were illuminated.

Here is the new system components.

i7 4770k
MSI Z87-GD65
4GBx2 GSKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR
Gigabyte GTX-770

Carried over my old power supply, an OCZ 600W that was working fine this afternoon. My old Samsung 256GB SSD, and my old 640GB HDD.

What I have tired so far..

1. Reseated RAM, reconnected the important power connections.

2. Next I tried a bare bones boot to see if it would POST and got the exact same symptoms as described above. To do the bare bones boot...

i removed all extra components. SATA drives (SSD, HDD, and Optical drive)
removed all PCI components (soundcard, GTX 770, and wireless card)
removed front panel connections and used on board power button.
tried to boot with 1 RAM stick in various slots.

3.I removed the CPU and verified that all of the mobo pins were in good shape, reseated the CPU. verified standoff positions. tried again and got same results.

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot from here and attempt to get a POST?

Went through all of that, setup as breadboard currently. What should my next step be to figure out what to RMA? I'm highly suspect of the motherboard....

I have put 5 systems together over the last 8 years, I have tried putting this thing together multiple times. I'm quite certain something is DOA here.

I took it for granted that my PSU worked after moving it to my new setup but it turns out it died in transition. I took it to a local shop to have it tested and it did not pass, got a new PSU and currently typing from my new system!!

Lesson learned. When you have a problem you can't take anything for granted, just because it worked 5 hours ago doesn't mean it works now so you have to test it to make sure.;
