So.. The build I had done about a year ago was stolen in a break in on our house...

Finally I have gotten to building a new one to replace it. I have put together two builds One is AMD/Nvidia and one is Intel Nvidia. My budget is around 1500, but the more I save the better, money I can put to getting my Comp TIA certs.

Ill explain my reasoning for each build, though they may not sound much like reasons.

Mind you I won't be overclocking any in the Intel i5, I go for the k moniker just for resale value. AMD I might overclock the GPU bit, but that's about the extent of what I'll do.

Basically Im deciding on the last Parts CPU, Mobo and GPU.

-----------------------------------------
AMD/NVIDIA
-----------------------------------------
1. Sub 1300, Makes my wallet happy to not be on fire.
2. IGPU incase the DIscrete GPU dies, and IGPU significantly better than intels so I can still run meh EMU's to pass the time instead of having a unusable computer.
3. Support the underdog!
4. Mantle ((God I hope it takes off..DX is evil IMO.))

Intel/Nvidia
-----------------
1.My last build was Intel with a 3770k, which at that time I did do 3d modeling fervently, but now I dont need HT, so this build I dropped to a i5.
2. IGPU as a back up incase of Nuclear meltdown of whatever GPU I choose.
3.Benchmark performance is better but in applications I never use often outside of compressing files with 7z, but that doesn't matter as I have other things I can do around the house while that goes on.
4. It's Intel, supported Intel the last 5 years.

As for GPU on both. I chose the 770 as I am still on a 1080P Monitor, plenty for me as I don't do near as much Uber gaming anymore, that GPU power tends to go to EMUlators and some select games I like, ((Skyrim+Heavy Modded)), Witcher 2, Hope one day Witcher 3 ((Dreaming)).

If you are trying to get a cheaper cpu and dont mind a little bit of inferiority to the intels then AMD is a good idea. But if you want higher specs and a better architecture I would go with intel. And as for the gpu. Amd is good if you dont mind noise and want to pay a lot less, however the one nice thing is AMD gpus tend to overclock better. But Nvidia is currently king when it comes to gpus but expect to pay a premium
