As the title says I need help figuring out what is waking my laptop. When it wakes the screen does not wake with it, or at least I can't get it to wake while it happens. When it happens the lid is usually closed and I think this is the reason the screen will not wake for me. The screen will not come on if I press any key, but if I press the windows key it will go back to sleep and then I can close the lid and reopen for it to wake normally. If I press the power button it will go to sleep and I can wake it normally.
Because the screen will not wake for me, the powercfg -lastwake command will not work for me I will list the things I have tried to find it below. It seems to wake at 4 am and I am not normally up by then so it is using power not to mention wear and tare on the HDD.
things I have tried and results:
Powercfg -lastwake = powerbutton : this is because I have to make it sleep to see the screen (frustrating). By opening the lid it registers as the power button.
Powercfg -devicequery wake_armed = none
Task Scheduler - turned off anything set to be able to wake the system.
Device Manager - made sure no device could wake the system.
Power Options - turned wake timers to OFF
What I have found out in Event Viewer:
Power Troubleshooter = The system has returned from a low power state. Wake Source = Unknown <--- ??? HUH? registered at 4:00:07 AM just after the wake on its own.
Windows Logs/ System/ information = The system time has changed to XXX from XXX. Change Reason System time synchronized with hardware clock. logged @ 4:00:02 AM
Windows Logs/ System/ information = The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{3fe08b16-fce7-40e4-96d9-acdab8d9fbce} because a master browser was stopped. Logged @ 4:00:07 AM

SAMSUNG Series 3 NP365E5C-S02UB Laptop - AMD A8-4500M -15.6" - 4GB DDR3 - 500GB HDD - Windows 8.1 x64 fully updated - no touch screen.
If you have any suggestions on how to find what is waking this this laptop I would love to hear them. If I have left out any information you may need please let me know so I can post it for you.
